MundaneTraces features a number of essays discussing the broader idea of a digitally informed creative practice. It presents a series of industry viewpoints, from artist, to curator, to writer, each of whom find a common ground through the possibilities offered in a fabrication process facilitated by information technology.

Features Deborah Turnbull, Transports; Ian Gwilt, Transcoding: new media as digital, material and mixed-reality form; Dr. Melinda Rackham; Transverse; and an introduction by Prof Kees Dorst.

MundaneTraces documents the PhD exhibition of Ian Gwilt's mixed-reality aesthetic. Artworks take the form of Rapid Prototype 3D digitally printed sculptures, augmented hand held devices, animation and audio works, along with prints and original paintings. Previously exhibited both nationally and internationally from prototype to finished works, the works in this exhibition bring together a now established aesthetic; the culmination of a 10-year artistic practice previously deemed experimental.
