The School of Design provides world best practice design education and research in a context of new technology, globalisation, sustainability and social change.

Design is the largest School in the faculty with 40 fulltime academic staff, supported by over 60 design experts and practicing designers contributing as part time lecturers. Around 1000 students are enrolled in design courses or undertaking postgraduate research.

We believe the designers of tomorrow need to be highly skilled in their chosen discipline with the confidence to work in multi-disciplinary teams and the flexibility to react to changing circumstances. To this end our students engage with the complexities and dynamics of today's networked society, the challenges of cultural change and rapidly developing technologies.

The focus of the School centres on the major design disciplines of Visual Communication; Interior Design; Fashion & Textiles and Industrial Design. In addition to undergraduate courses the School offers postgraduate courses in design and animation. All these fields are reflected in our range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Collaboration with universities around the globe ensures the School of Design is at the leading edge of teaching and research. Our courses attract students from Asia, Europe and the Americas. Many of our local students spend part of their program on exchange studying in top institutions overseas.

Industry engagement is a vital component of the School's success in winning awards, employment of graduates and maintaining relevance in our teaching research activities.
