Undergraduate Courses
All DAB Undergraduate courses commence in the Autumn semester (March).
Local Applicants
Current School Leavers
Your application is based on your ATAR score or equivalent. If you are sitting for an Australian Year 12 examination, you must apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). On-time applications close at the end of September.
Non-Current School Leavers
You must apply though UAC, and on-time applications close at the end of September.
Mature age applicants applying for a course on the basis of a Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) or Limited ATAR. You are a mature age applicant if you are over 20 years of age, and you have no tertiary level study or secondary academic qualifications. Faculties that accept:
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) (opens an external site), or
- Limited ATAR (opens an external site).
list those qualifications under ‘Qualifications Used in Selection’ in their course admission requirements. If you are applying on the basis of a STAT or Limited ATAR you must submit a compulsory personal statement by Friday 10 June 2011 for mid-year applications.
Admission to Construction or Property Economics degrees is based on formal academic qualifications. However, we may consider applications based on the results of a STAT test if you lack academic qualifications but have extensive professional experience. The STAT test is conducted through UAC.
If you are intending to apply for the Bachelor of Design in Architecture, you must apply through UAC by the first closing date for on-time applications, usually at the end of September.
If you are intending to apply for Fashion and Textile Design, Industrial Design, Interior and Spatial Design, Visual Communications or Photography and Situated Media you must apply through UAC by the first closing date for on-time applications, usually at the end of September.
Non-current school leaver applicants will be assessed based on interview (shortlisted from an optional portfolio) or academic rank. Generally the best qualification is considered for non-current school leavers unless the applicant was previously excluded or has a record of fails in a tertiary qualification used in selection.
Non-current school leaver applicants for Design courses can submit an optional Design portfolio when lodging their UAC application, which is used for interview short-listing. To be considered for an interview, applicants must submit a digital portfolio (max. 3mb) of 6 x A4 landscape pages including:
- 5 pages of digital files of scans and/or photographs (JPEG) of original design work appropriate to the course
- 1 page written submission (150-200 words) that selects and identifies one of the submitted pieces of work, addressing the aims of the work and why it succeeded (text must be supplied in 16 point Helvetica, with 1.5 line spacing).
Applicants who do not submit a portfolio or are not shortlisted for interview will be considered for entry based upon their academic results.
See http://www.uts.edu.au/study/additional.html for the definitions of current and non-current school leaver.

You must apply through UAC by the closing date for commencement in either the Autumn Semester (March) or Spring Semester (August).
The Faculty may accept applications after the closing dates, direct to UTS. Please contact Ask UTS for details.
You will also need to provide a curriculum vitae and a personal statement directly to the university. Documentation in a language other than English must be submitted with an official translation, and copies of originals must be certified.
