The School of Architecture at UTS is a concentration of many forms of architectural education, research and enterprise that overlap and influence each other; a laboratory for the future of architecture.

Our mission and our responsibility are to test the limits and assumptions of Architecture, and explore new ways in which to exercise our ethical and creative responsibility towards the built environment. As a school of Architecture, our activities perform a vital role in shaping the future of the discipline itself.

We are a generator and supporter of architectural culture locally and internationally, which we foster through the notion of an Open School, one that is transparent about what we do, and generous about sharing the knowledge that we produce.

We engage with emerging practices across the spectrum of architecture from professional practice to design technologies, through a focus on design supported by a critical and ethical engagement with the potentials of contemporary technologies in contested social contexts.

What we stand for is articulated by the work we do. Our focus is international, and we join with industry and institutional thought leaders who believe in research and education focused on an expanded practice of architecture and innovative architectural design. As students and academics, we are continuously developing our role as a public institution; one that is confident, optimistic, open and passionately invested in the future of our environment.
